Review: Fyne Audio F303 – Big Scale, Big Fun, Small Price?
Verdict at a Glance
The Fyne Audio F303s are masters of scale and excitement. If you have the room to let them breathe, they offer a massive, dynamic sound that is hard to beat for the money. While they lack the ultimate refinement of some rivals, their “fun factor” is undeniable.
| Score Breakdown | Rating |
| Build Quality | 8/10 |

| Detail & Refinement | 7.5/10 |
| Value for Money | 9/10 |
The imposing F303—standing nearly a meter tall—sits at the top of the Fyne F300 series, just above the award-winning F302. The main differences between this model and its smaller sibling are the additional mid/bass driver and a significantly larger cabinet volume.
There is a serious sense of scale to be had from these hefty speakers. For powerful dynamics, they are hard to beat at this price point. However, be warned: they demand space. You will need a good amount of room, as well as clearance from the rear wall, to prevent the bass from becoming too heavy or “boomy.”

How We Tested
To give the F303s a fair and thorough evaluation, we tested them over two weeks in a 20ft x 15ft dedicated listening room treated with broadband absorption and rear-wall diffusion.
After experimenting with placement, the speakers performed best at:
- 75 cm from the rear wall
- 60 cm from the side walls
- Slight toe-in toward the listening seat
This setup produced tighter bass and the best imaging.
System Used
- Amplifier: Cambridge Audio CXA81
- Source: High-resolution FLAC (Tidal HiFi)
- Comparison Speakers: Dali Oberon 5, Fyne Audio F302
Music Selection
We used a diverse playlist to stress different aspects of performance:
- Hans Zimmer – “Time” → scale, layering, crescendos
- Massive Attack – “Angel” → bass texture, slow-build dynamics
- Adele – “Love in the Dark” → vocal intimacy
- Fleetwood Mac – “Dreams” → treble smoothness and imaging
- Dire Straits – “Private Investigations” → micro-detail and decay
We performed A/B switching at low, medium, and high volumes to test how the speakers behaved under different conditions.
Build and Compatibility
The Fyne Audio F303s are a substantial pair of floorstanding speakers. At nearly a meter tall, they cut an imposing, upmarket figure—especially in the walnut finish of our review sample (black ash and light oak are also available).
There is a twin pair of terminals around the back, giving you the option to bi-wire. Whichever color you choose, you’ll need to fit the plastic plinths and spikes. Admittedly, the slightly flimsy plastic here takes some shine off what is otherwise a smart design.
The F303s feature two 15cm mid/bass drivers flanking a 25mm polyester dome tweeter. Known as the D’Appolito driver configuration, Fyne claims this helps deliver smooth dispersion and a wide sweet spot.

Sound Performance
We are happy to report that the sonic characteristics we have loved in previous Fyne speakers are present here.
Scale and Dynamics
Listening to Hans Zimmer’s Time, we were eager to hear how well these large cabinets could fill our space. We were not disappointed. As the track adds layer upon layer of stirring strings and brass to reach its epic conclusion, the F303s effortlessly rose to the challenge. There is a serious scale here, not to mention plenty of bottom-end weight thanks to that extra driver.
Detail and Rhythms
That is not to say they are one-dimensional or unable to do “delicate.” Massive Attack’s Angel is a brooding slow-burner, and the F303s showcased impressive attention to detail and comfortable handling of subtle rhythms. They are almost begging to play at high volume, but even at lower levels, they demonstrate good agility, with notes stopping and starting precisely.
Treble and Insight
The slight over-excitement in the treble that we detected on the smaller Fynes is still present, though it is tempered by the extra serving of bass. Only the most sensitive listeners will find it off-putting, but it is worth bearing in mind when matching the rest of your system (avoid overly bright amplifiers).
The Competition: Fyne F303 vs. Dali Oberon 5
A crucial part of our testing was comparing these against the class-leading Dali Oberon 5.
- Scale: The Fyne F303s sound significantly bigger and bolder. If you want a “wall of sound,” the Fynes win.
- Refinement: The Dalis feel slightly more “educated.” They don’t sound as huge or bassy, but they are excellent when it comes to delivering a fast, cohesive sound that is perfectly balanced through the frequency spectrum.
- Vocal Clarity: The Dalis offer a bit more insight and openness in the midrange for vocals.
Buying Advice: If you prioritize fun, bass, and room-filling volume, choose the Fyne F303. If you prioritize absolute detail and listen in a smaller room, consider the Dali Oberon 5.

Verdict
Overall, the Fyne Audio F303s are exciting, upbeat, and fun, which makes them easy to love. While you might get a bit more insight from the Dali competition, for pure scale and excitement, these Fynes are masters of their trade.
