Esoteric Introduces the Grandioso N1T Network Player:
For the first time since the launch of the Esoteric Grandioso line in 2013, the brand has unveiled a network player—the Grandioso N1T. Designed to seamlessly integrate with other components in the Grandioso series, such as the monoblock DAC D1X SE and the SACD player with DAC K1X SE, the N1T promises to deliver both aesthetic harmony and exceptional performance. According to Esoteric, this new addition will “open a new dimension of streaming playback.”
At the heart of the N1T is a fourth-generation network engine, which not only supports traditional Ethernet but also includes an SFP port for enhanced connectivity. The device boasts impressive decoding capabilities, handling DSD files up to 22.5 MHz and supporting a wide range of digital audio formats, including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, MQA, AIFF, and more. It accommodates PCM resolutions from 44.1 kHz to 768 kHz at 16/24/32-bit (both integer and floating-point formats) and DSD at 2.8 MHz, 5.6 MHz, 11.2 MHz, and 22.5 MHz—though finding recordings at the highest DSD rate might be a challenge.
The N1T is also equipped to stream from popular services like Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify, with Roon compatibility available right out of the box. Esoteric promises a “strikingly smooth, realistic, vinyl-like sound,” achieved through the use of independent linear power supplies for each circuit section. The device features the brand’s signature multi-layer chassis with a semi-floating top panel, designed to enhance sonic openness. Weighing in at 23.1 kg and measuring 132 x 445 x 448 mm, the N1T sits on advanced isolating feet to minimize vibrations.
Connectivity options are extensive, with digital outputs including ES-LINK, USB2.0 TYPE-A and TYPE-C (allowing the N1T to function as a music server), as well as XLR and RCA outputs capable of handling PCM up to 192 kHz at 16/24-bit or DSD at 2.8 MHz (DoP). Despite its built-in precision Master Sound Discrete Clock, the N1T also offers a BNC Clock input for connecting to an external 10 MHz clock generator, such as the Grandioso G1X.
Control is streamlined through Esoteric’s proprietary mobile app, which can also manage other Grandioso components. The Esoteric Grandioso N1T is set to hit the market in March 2025, with pricing details to be announced closer to the release date. This new network player is poised to be a game-changer for audiophiles seeking the ultimate streaming experience.
