Monitor Audio Has Completely Reworked Its Silver Series for 2026
Monitor Audio has completely refreshed one of its best-known speaker families, introducing the new Silver Series 8G with seven models covering everything from traditional two-channel listening to Dolby Atmos home theater.
The new generation brings redesigned drivers, new crossover networks, revised bass reflex ports, stronger cabinet construction, and a new wall-mounted model that wasn’t part of the previous Silver 7G lineup. But another change will probably catch the attention of existing Silver Series owners immediately: the prices have gone up significantly.
At the top of the range, the new Silver 500 8G now costs £2,650 per pair, which is £925 more than its predecessor.
That makes the new generation a considerably more ambitious proposition than simply giving the existing Silver Series a cosmetic refresh.
Monitor Audio has rebuilt much of the technology underneath the familiar Silver name while expanding the range into a more complete system for modern listening rooms.

The Silver Series 8G now consists of seven models, giving Monitor Audio a much broader platform for building a complete stereo or home theater system.
The range begins with the floorstanding Silver 500 8G and Silver 300 8G, followed by the bookshelf-sized Silver 100 8G and Silver 50 8G. There is also the Silver Centre 8G for dialogue and front-channel duties, the ceiling-mounted Silver AMS 8G designed for Dolby Atmos, and the new Silver On-Wall 8G.
That last speaker is particularly interesting because it represents a new direction for the Silver family.
The previous Silver 7G generation offered conventional floorstanding, bookshelf, center and Atmos options, but the new On-Wall model gives the series another way to fit into modern rooms where large cabinets aren’t always practical.
It also allows Monitor Audio to position the Silver range as something more than a traditional stereo speaker family. The new generation can now form the basis of a complete home theater system without requiring the listener to mix different product families.
Monitor Audio Has Changed More Than the Cabinet
The most important updates are hidden behind the new finishes.
Across the Silver Series 8G, Monitor Audio continues to use its proprietary C-CAM aluminum-magnesium alloy drivers, but the midrange and bass drivers now use an updated RST III design.
The objective is greater cone rigidity.
A stiffer driver can resist unwanted deformation as it moves, which helps the diaphragm behave more predictably, particularly as frequency and excursion increase. Monitor Audio says the revised design also helps reduce unwanted resonance.
The result should be a cleaner transition between the driver’s intended operating range and the frequencies where the cone can begin to behave less ideally.
For a speaker range positioned between mainstream and genuinely high-end territory, that sort of refinement matters more than simply increasing the size of the cabinet or driver.
The Gold Dome Tweeter Has Been Reworked Too
The familiar Monitor Audio C-CAM gold-dome tweeter also receives a significant redesign for the 8G generation.
The new tweeter uses a vented rear chamber and a new shorting ring, with both changes intended to reduce distortion and extend the high-frequency response.
The rear chamber is particularly important because the space behind a tweeter diaphragm can influence how the driver behaves as it approaches the upper limits of its operating range.
Monitor Audio has therefore concentrated on both the mechanical behavior of the driver and the magnetic circuit surrounding it.
The company isn’t presenting the new tweeter as a completely different philosophy. Instead, it is an evolution of the Gold Dome concept that has become closely associated with the Silver Series.
That seems to be the broader theme of the 8G generation: retain the identity of the Silver range while revisiting almost every part of the design that affects performance.
The Crossover Has Been Redesigned Around the New Drivers
The drivers are only part of the story.
Monitor Audio has also redesigned the crossover networks used throughout the new Silver Series.
The company says the new crossovers use higher-quality components and have been developed to improve integration between the individual drivers while producing a more coherent soundstage.
That is an important distinction.
A multi-driver loudspeaker isn’t simply a collection of independent drivers. The listener hears the combined output of the entire system, and the transition between the bass, midrange and treble sections has a huge influence on how naturally the speaker presents music.
A good crossover should make those individual drivers sound less like separate components and more like one coherent source.

The new Silver On-Wall 8G may ultimately prove to be one of the most useful additions to the range.

An on-wall speaker solves a different problem.

Is the Silver Series Still the Same Speaker?
