This Budget Atmos System Sounds Too Good To Be True. Is It? Jamo S 807 HCS review
Let’s be realistic: finding a full 7.1-channel Dolby Atmos speaker package for under £ 1,120 seems like a typo. When you see it includes two big floorstanding speakers, you start looking for the catch. Surely, this is a case of quantity over quality.
But then you see the name: Jamo. And suddenly, we’re listening.
This is the Jamo S 807 HCS package, and it’s not just an incredible steal. It’s a shockingly tidy and compact system. Jamo actually suggests you slide the slim subwoofer right under your sofa. How’s that for convenient?
We got our hands on this package, hoping for the same magic we heard from their budget-friendly S 805 speakers. Here’s what we found.
Big Sound, Clever Design
The stars of the show are the S 807 floorstanders, which handle the front left and right channels. They’re an upgrade to the S 805s, adding a second 12.5cm woofer. But their best trick is how they handle Atmos.
Instead of running more ugly wires, you can get the optional S 8 ATM height speakers, which slot directly into the top of the towers. A hidden connection passes the height signal through, leaving the Atmos modules looking perfectly clean. It’s a brilliant solution that mixes style and substance.
The rest of the system follows this smart-design philosophy. The S 81 CEN center speaker has little wooden legs that let it sit perfectly on a media cabinet. The S 801 surround speakers are compact versions of the main towers, keeping the look and sound consistent.
And that S 808 subwoofer? It’s powered by 100 watts of Class D amplification, yet it’s so slim (only 176mm deep) that it won’t stick out into your room. Tucking it under the couch isn’t a gimmick; it’s a genuinely great design choice.
So, How Does It All Sound?
This is where the package truly proves its worth. The sound is dynamic, full-bodied, and just plain fun.
The S 807 towers and their front-firing ports handle a lot of the bass, but the S 808 sub kicks in to help the system dig even deeper for those movie rumbles.

Is the low-end the tightest or fastest we’ve ever heard? No. It’s a little on the soft side, but it’s not a dealbreaker by any means. It’s a “family sound” consistent, warm, and exactly what you’d hope for from a matched system. For all but the most critical audiophiles, the bass is more than ample.
My Verdict: Is the Jamo S 807 HCS a Buy?
Yes. Absolutely.
The S 807 HCS isn’t a great speaker package for the price; it’s just a flat-out great home cinema system. Its value is off the charts, but its real selling point is its blend of smart, compact design and dynamic, engaging sound.
Sure, you could pay more for a smoother, more refined performance. But for this money, Jamo has created an outright bargain. We’d be happy to go to the movies with this system any time.
