The Rega Naiad turntable (almost the same as the Naiad, but in a serial version) debuted at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show. It is worth recalling here that the Rega Naiad, which is valued at £30,000 in the UK, is something of an almost impossible prototype that became so coveted that it was produced in 50 copies, of which 38 have already been sold.
But here’s the problem – so much manual labor was incorporated into the Naiad that we still had to create its serial counterpart. Not so perfect and one letter shorter in the name – Naiadrn
It’s almost the same skeletal multilayer frame, but this time made of carbon fiber filled with graphene. The central bearing is made of aluminum oxide (we call this ceramic alundum) ZTA, reinforced with zirconium – we can assume that everything is the same here as in Naiad. The disk is also made of ceramic, with “controlled resonance”, which forms an improved flywheel effect, which will provide more uniform rotation.
One could also talk about the classic belt drive, but in Naia, there is not one belt, but three – for the same uniformity. The tonearm tube with shell is a one-piece titanium piece, with a vertical bearing housing, tungsten balancer shaft and counterweight. The vertical spindle is also titanium. The entire turntable assembly is mounted on lightweight aluminum legs.
